Francis and Leo XIV are “both prophets”, the former US Nuncio Cardinal Christophe Pierre, 80, told NcRegister.com on June 10.
Cardinal Pierre became Nuncio to Mexico in 2007, when Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio was Archbishop of Buenos Aires: “Pope Francis was a prophet, speaking about what it means to be Church in a changing era.”
The Cardinal sees Leo XIV carrying forward the same spirit: “When you read and listen to the Holy Father, he is in total continuity with what Francis began. Each week, he speaks about Vatican II and the next consistory will be a discussion of Evangelii Gaudium. You see!”
“Pope Leo is first and foremost a Latino bishop,” said Cardinal Pierre. “A bishop born in America but a Latino bishop and when you say that you know, you say everything about Pope Leo, but you also say everything about America! Sometimes people don’t want to recognize it.”

Cardinal Robert McElroy of Washington D.C. is reportedly banning Communion kneelers and altar rails.
According to Christine Niles (June 14), Cardinal McElroy gave a directive during a recent meeting with priests: “no installation or reinstallation of altar rails”.
