Worse than Germany: On June 24, the Spanish Bishops' Conference appointed economist Luis Ayala Cañón as the new president of Caritas Spain, the Church's largest charitable organization. He previously served on the Spanish Government's Advisory Council for Health and Social Services, reports InfoVaticana.com. He was appointed by Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's administration in 2019. Senior Hamas official Bassem Naim held a call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on 23 June, the Palestinian resistance group announced in an official statement. “Araghchi expressed his gratitude for the call and for Hamas’s supportive position, affirming that the Islamic Republic will continue supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause until the full realization of their legitimate national rights,” the statement said.
